A Day in the Life of an Intern

Intern #1

As a TMG intern, I've learned that as a company, we work hard and play hard. TMG sponsors many activities throughout the year for its employees, including a Fourth of July Cookout, Halloween Costume Party, Thanksgiving Potluck, Secret Santa Week, Picnics at Utica Square's "Summer's Fifth Night," group lunches at the Greek Festival and Mayfest, as well as Annual Chili Cook-offs, pumpkin carving contests and more. It's great to work for a company that encourages personal and professional development in and out of the office.

Intern #2

Even though I'm a relatively new employee of The McIntosh Group, I never felt like an outsider. This company welcomed me with open arms from the moment I stepped in the front door. They made me feel like one of the family. Because of the amount of responsibility and confidence they placed with me, I have been able to learn more than I had ever hoped to in my first year out of school.

Another great side to this firm is their attention to fitness and wellness. They provide us with healthcare plans that rival some of the largest firms in the area. A few years ago they formed a "Wellness Team" that helps us energize our days at the office by providing lunch time pilates workouts, and thirty-miute "Wellness Walks" during the day. Who could ask for more?

Intern #3 (who just recently become licensed!)

I am an interior design intern working mainly on tenant improvement, restaurants, and retail stores. An average day for me varies from one week to the next. One day I could be in Chicago looking over new project locations, and the next I could be in the office working on a new design. That's the great thing about this job, and the projects that I work on. I'm given the opportunity to experience the entire design process, from project conception to completion.

Our team isn't just about the work, though. We have more of a family atmosphere and enjoy unwinding from a stressful day together. There is always a group of people ready to go out for lunch, or dinner after work. It seems like we're always celebrating a birthday or anniversary and last week several team members participated in a chili cookoff.

We also understand the importance of being connected to our community. The team has sponsored me as an associate AIA, and several of the interns have joined a local group called "Tulsa Young Professionals." The team has supported me in my pursuit of my professional license, and thanks to their support I'm nearly there.
